Our skin is at the mercy of many forces as we age: sun, harsh weather, and bad habits. But we can take steps to help our skin stay supple and luminious looking. But, how the skin ages will depends on several factors such as lifestyles, poor diet, environment and heredity. The structural stability and  physiological function are affected.  Estrogen levels in the body also strongly influence skin of women. As the age toward midlife it contribute to earlier signs of aging.


The differences between young skin and older skin

When we are young, our skin renews itself approximately every month compared to as we aged. The deepest layer of the epidermis  is mostly comprised of keratinocytes and is responsible for renewing the skin.  
Keratinocytes produce keratin, the protein that protects your skin from chemical products and bacteria. Keratinocytes slowly migrate from the basal layer up toward your skin’s surface, dividing and changing as they go.

Natural aging 

We are getting old and the body is changing. As we grow older the collagen and the elastin production in the body is decrease. It will contribute to the skin condition of the body because skin is the most visible sign of aging. The wrinkles and the saggy skin are the  example of the aging.
